Finally have this set up

I've been working on getting this blog set up for a few weeks now. It's my first time building a webpage, and it's been a lot of fun! Physics likes to think it has a monopoly on my time, but doing stuff like this is great in that I can work at a terminal at my desk, trying to get the web server set up, and it looks like I'm working on real stuff. Not that being sneaky about it makes me feel any less guilty that I'm not doing work... And I'm probably not tricking anyone, either. But at least, if my coworkers have noticed, they have had the decency to not call me out while I've been working on my distraction...

You know, I never did have a Xanga blog in middle school. I never did get to experience the truly millennial rite of passage of over-sharing on the Internet. And honestly, I feel like I missed out on a crucial part of my generation's coming of age. I've always wanted to be emotional and gossipy on the Internet, just to see how it feels! Now, for once, I can totally overshare to my heart's content. But I kid. I honestly doubt I'll overshare much at all- it will mostly be a space of reacting to current news articles and books I've read.

Also, it feels great to have built the blog from scratch. Unlike every other social service out there, I fully control this page. So many things that happen on the Internet are inscrutable. Having this website is like having built my own, shitty, fixed-gear bike-- It was wholly unnecessary and hispter-ish. Uhh, I mean, it was nice to build something from the ground up and be able to understand every part of how it works. It's calming to know nothing funny is going on. Nothing is phoning home. This is the house.

Hello, welcome.
